Tekad dan semangat membentuk sarjana muslim yang kokoh akidahnya, mulia akhlaknya, luas ilmu dan wawasannya, tinggi keterampilannya, serta kuat daya juang hidupnya untuk diabdikan kepada masyarakat, bangsa, negara dan umat, seakan menjadi cemeti yang terus melecut para civitas akademiknya untuk terus berbuat menuju yang terbaik.

Introduction
Pluralism is defined as the existence of many different groups in one society, for example, people of different races or of different political or religious beliefs; cultural or political pluralism. Pluralism is to negate fanaticism, which is an attitude of disrespecting diversity, plurality, and multicultural realities. In terms of religious pluralism, Hick describes pluralism as contrasting, on the one hand, religious dogmatism, and in particular the “exclusivist” view that only the religious teaching of one’s own tradition is veridical and salvific. On the other hand, pluralism is also intended as a buttress against skepticism of the non-realist sort, the sort which denies truth value to religious statements.

A. IntroductionMadura is an island near Java and therefore under provincial of East Java. It comprises four regencies with total population about 5 million people. The most characteristics of Madurese are Muslim of economically middle class to grass root with sense of strong etnic and sect fanatism without necessarily lead to fundamentalism or radicalism. Madurese muslim are inclined to ahl al-sunnah wa al-jama’ah (Sunni) in theological foundation and Nahdhatul Ulama (NU) affiliation in term of Islamic organization. Therefore, in term of education they are tied to traditional religious school of pesantren. It can be seen from the phenomena that almost all subdistricts in the island has at least two pesantren. To quote, for example, in Bruneh sub diatrict there are ten pesantrens ranging from big pesantren with no less than 400 students to small pesantren with number of pupil (santri) as many as 150 santries.
