State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau is one of the State Islamic universities that changed from IAIN (State Islamic Institute) after State Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga, and State Islamic University of Malang. Since the change, State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau has prepared itself to achieve its vision. Nowadays, State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau is striving to hold various innovations in developing the University both institutionally and academically. So far, State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau has produced many alumni that are able to mobilize social transformation through their participation in different institutions both traditional religious institutions like Pesantren and modern institution in the sector of education, legislative, government, NGOs, and political parties dominated by alumni of other universities previously.
On the other hand, the highest educa-tional institution in Indonesia actually are facing plenty of problems like economic crisis, high competition as the impact of globalization, low quality of education, and the increasing number of unemployment of university graduates. Consequently, many people are more interested to send their children abroad to study. At the same time, there are more professional/skilled expatriates working in Indonesia, while Indonesian workers sent abroad are generally less professional or unprofessional.
Regarding such problems, State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau as one of higher educational institutions is challenged to be able to overcome the problems; so that State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau really plays a significant role in introducing modernization, realizing the welfare, and establishing a civilized society. Therefore, State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau attempts to re-introspect and establishes a well organized university (organizational health); that is an organizational ability in developing academic freedom, performing innovations, motivating creativity, and transferring sciences and knowledge, as known as a prerequisite of high quality management process realization.
